Nathan Sawicki

EECS 216 & 351

As a GSI for EECS 216 and EECS 351, Nathan concentrated on sparking students’ interest in the material. His music-based projects were highly interactive and enabled students to absorb a large amount of information without feeling overwhelmed. The high numbers of Performance Arts and Technology students in EECS 216 created a challenge for Nathan, as students’ varying backgrounds made it particularly difficult to teach ideas that relied on students’ understanding of advanced mathematical concepts. Nathan met this challenge head-on by spending one-on-one time with students, as well as developing interactive slides for the recitation section. This allowed him to help students of all backgrounds reach a fundamental understanding of the concepts.
