DESCI 501/MECHENG 455: Analytical Product Design

Lauren Wojciechowski was a transformative GSI in Analytical Product Design, where she not only excelled in traditional teaching but also introduced new curriculum elements focused on social impact in engineering. She developed a new lecture and assignment on Design for Social Impact, prompting students to consider equity and justice in their product designs, a framework that will remain a permanent part of the course. Her instructional approach was highly interactive and student-centered, incorporating small-group discussions and personalized feedback. Beyond instruction, Lauren took on course coordination responsibilities, streamlining assignments, revising rubrics, and managing student extension requests with fairness and empathy. She also provided hands-on support for students in fabrication and prototyping, ensuring the success of their capstone projects. Her holistic approach to teaching, mentorship, and course development has left a lasting imprint on the program.
